MUSIC 2MC3

Psychology of Music- aka “Psychology for Musicians”

I will be teaching this course during term 1 of the 2018-19 academic year.  It will meet Tuesdays 10:30-11:20, and Thursdays 9:30-11:20 in room 118 of Togo Salmon Hall.

MUSIC 2MC3 is specifically designed for music students (who have completed MUSIC I) interested in better understanding the psychological basis of their musical activities.  There are no prerequisites with respect to psychology or science courses, although an interest in exploring music from a psychological standpoint is obviously important.

Note: This course is not intended for SOTA students enrolled in our music cognition specialization.  Those students should instead take the required MUSICCOG 2MP3 course, building upon PSYCH 1X03 and 1XX3 to more broadly survey the field of music cognition prior to more advanced courses in levels 3 and 4.
