Cameron Anderson

Cam’s research connects theoretical investigations of music’s historic changes with psychological explorations of its perceived meaning. His interdisciplinary projects have focused on how changes in musical expression throughout history affect composers’ musical choices, as well as listeners’ perceptions of music’s conveyed emotion. He has also contributed to work exploring how musical considerations can improve the design of auditory alarms in medical environments. As a graduate resident of the Lewis and Ruth Sherman Centre, Cam is developing interactive tools for identifying expressive patterns in compositions by historically influential composers. Cam holds a Bachelor of Music (Music Cognition spec.) and is beginning a Ph.D. in the department of Psychology, Neuroscience, & Behaviour at McMaster University.
