Aimee is a PhD student in Psychology, Neuroscience and Behaviour. She completed her B.Sc (Hons) in Psychology with a concentration in Neuroscience, at Bishop’s University. After completing her undergraduate studies, Aimee attended McGill University (2012-2013) as a non-degree seeking student to explore music cognition and obtain research experience. She is the co-founder and co-organizer of the S.P.I.C.E.S funded group The Cerebral Coffeehouse, where she assists in organizing evenings bringing together researchers and the general public to promote dialogue on a variety of topics related to research. Aimee’s current research focuses on music’s ability to convey emotion. Her work to date has investigated the perceptual relationship between musical cues (pitch, timing, mode) and perceived emotion in listeners. She is also interested in examining how performer interpretation influences expressed emotion, as well as how musical expertise affects the process of perceiving conveyed emotion.contact: battcoae@mcmaster.ca
